Private Voice Lessons Policies
Tuition:
Tuition is $15 per half hour lesson. Monthly tuition reserves your lesson time. ($60 for a month with 4 weeks and $75 for a month with 5 weeks.) You must still pay for lessons missed. You may schedule a make up lesson for the following reasons: Sickness, Vacation, Funeral, or other special situations I approve. Tuition is due by the second lesson of the month. Any tuition received after the second lesson of the month is late, and should include a late fee of $5. Please make checks out to Crystal Griffiths.
Lesson Attendance:
Please be consistent with your lesson attendance. The more consistent you are with your practicing and lesson attendance the more you will progress. Each student may make up only one lesson per month (upon availability). Please be considerate of my time and contact me prior to your lesson time if you are unable to make it to your lesson.
Practicing:
Practicing is essential for vocal progression. Please commit yourself to practice at least 5 days a week for 20 to 30 minutes a day. Your practicing should consist of the things we have gone over and discussed in your lesson that week. When you fail to practice you will progress at a slower pace. I recommend having a time set aside each day to practice. This will help you get into a routine of practicing and after time it will become a habit.
Performances:
Performances are an essential part of singing. The more you perform the more comfortable you will become with performing and overcoming stage fright. Your songs must be memorized in order to perform. I will do my best to keep each recital under 60 minutes.
Recital Fee:
There will be a recital fee of $10 for each recital. This will cover the costs of an accompanist or a practice/performance CD and the rental of the building we perform in. This recital fee will be due with the monthly tuition that the recital falls in.
Master Classes:
A master class is a group class where we discuss musical concepts, learn group songs, and perform for each other. Master classes are included with your monthly tuition. You still have regular lessons the week of the master class. Master Classes will be held one Friday a month from 5:00 – 6:00 pm.
Supplies:
Each student must provide themselves with a three ring binder and a pencil. You will also need a vocal book either Broadway or classical. This will help you start building a music library of your own. I will recommend which vocal book is best for your voice type. Most vocal books range from $25 - $40 and often come with an accompaniment CD.
